Objectives
The BCCC Trade and Investment Committee shall have the following objectives:
- to create a systematized process to facilitate companies Introduction and meeting arrangements, through the development of a database of member and non-member contacts by sector.
- to promote bi-lateral cooperation, trade and investment opportunities (both direct and alternate investments) for member and non-member companies, within country regulatory frameworks.
- to publish a series of “How to” Business Guides, which will provide practical guides to members and prospective members who are thinking about how to do business in Brazil (or vice-versa in Canada).
- to develop and execute a calendar of thematic workshops, “business training” and networking events, focusing on topics relevant to the operating realities of each country, covering all current and future BCCC chapters in Canada.
- to act as the official representation on behalf of BCCC and its chapters in relevant trade missions, as appropriate, as well as leveraging opportunities to liaise with government bodies.
Organization
- Chair: position to be held for 2 years. The Chair will promote and guide the activities of the Committee in a way which can best meet the objectives of the Committee. In addition, the Chair will work collaboratively with other members of the BCCC and potential members of the commercial relations committee, in order to foster information sharing and commercial relations development opportunities for the BCCC’s members. The expectation is that the position of Chair would be open to re-election.
- One or Two Vice-Chairs – to support the Chairs and take on a leadership role on his/her behalf when required. The position will be for a 2 year term and is subject to re-election.
- Content Coordinator – position to be held for a 2 year term. Work will include the collection and aggregation of relevant information and content; organization of database development and delivery; event programs; business guide publications and definition of budget, speaker invitations and support and any other activities related to the committee’s action, plan as may be requested by the Chair and/or Vice Chair(s). The Content Coordinator will act as the point of contact for all matters related to the content development and output of the Committee and will also work closely with a member of the BCCC’s Events Committee.
- BCCC – Administration: A BCCC staff member or other volunteer to offer event coordination and administrative support for the Committee to assist in organizing meetings, documenting decisions and assisting the Content Coordinator.
