BRAZIL-CANADA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE APPOINTS NEW MANAGEMENT TEAM AND LEADERSHIP FOR THEIR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Daniel Ricica, a Canadian executive with vast experience working in Canada and Brazil was elected the new Co-Chair. Alongside with Cory McPhee, they will lead the team with the mandate of strengthening and growing commercial relationships between Brazil and Canada.

TORONTO, June 20, 2019 – The Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce (BCCC) announces today the appointment of its new management team with the mandate of fostering even stronger commercial relationships between Brazil and Canada. Partner at KPMG, Daniel Ricica, was elected by board members as the new Co-Chair on Wednesday, June 19th.

With over 15 years of experience in finance and accounting in the Mining Sector, Daniel will continue to advance the excellent services provided to BCCC’s members. Daniel has been a Board Director for the Chamber since 2015.

The BCCC’s board has also reelected Cory McPhee, Vice-President of Corporate Affairs and Communications at Vale Canada as Co-Chair. Cory has been a Board Director since 2010 and an important advocate for the BCCC’s Mining Committee.

Other Board Members updates

During the BCCC Annual General Meeting, four members were also approved to be part of the Board of Directors:

Eduardo Fleury, partner at FCR Law, is the head of the firm’s tax practice. He advises national and international clients on a range of tax and business law issues with a strong focus on complex taxation transactions. Currently, he is obtaining the Doctor of Juridical Science in Taxation from the University of Florida.

Terrence Boyland, CEO at CPQi, has over twenty-five years of senior experience. During his career he has delivered over £500 million in banking projects with positive EVA and served as a senior adviser to several companies as well as to the Brazilian government. Terry is currently leading the Artificial Intelligence focus of CPQi from Canada.

Sandra Alvarez has been with Export Development Canada (EDC) for over 15 years. She is currently a Regional Manager for Latin America in EDC’s Global Business Development Group. She works with a team of professionals in EDC’s offices in Latin America to advance trade between companies in that region and Canadian companies. Sandra is located in EDC’s head office in Ottawa.

Peter Hawkins is Managing Director of Mellohawk Logistics. A graduate of Dalhousie University, he spent a decade in international sales with McClelland & Stewart Publishers before he co-founded Mellohawk Logistics. He is Chair of the Professional Advisory Committee – International Business Program, Sheridan College; Member of the Peel-Halton Local Employment Planning Council (LEPC); Member of the Peel-Halton Workforce Development Group Central Planning Table (CPT); and Mentor at Acces Employment.

We would also like to thank Paulo Salomao, Managing Director at Accenture, for his exceptional leadership and inputs during his mandate as Vice-Chair and Chair. Paulo has decided to step down after 3 years aiming to promote a renewal of leadership that will allow the Chamber to continue to grow.

For this year ahead, Carolina Albernaz, Director of Business Development and Operations, will be managing all the daily activities and will report directly to the Board of Directors.
