Reset 21-22 The Economic Recovery Plan of the State of Sao Paulo
The Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce and Global Affairs Canada have partnered with the Government of Sao Paulo state to present the event Reset 21-22 – The Economic Recovery Plan of the State of Sao Paulo, that will take place next Thursday from 3:00 PM EST to 4:30 PM EST online.
The event will be Emceed by Governor Joao Doria, and will include presentations from Henrique Meirelles, Secretary of Finance as well as introduction to infrastructure projects, business opportunities and overview of the State’s sustainable and environmental agenda.
The State of São Paulo is noted for its significant contribution to the national economy, producing 31% of Brazil's GDP (2017). Brazil's largest industrial park is just one contributor to the thriving and diversified São Paulo economy which is boosted by a high qualified labor force. Industry in São Paulo is built on a solid technology foundation: the State produces high value added goods, most notably in the segments of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Oil and Natural Gas, the Green Economy, Aeronautics and the Automotive segment.
Covering a geographical area with the size of the United Kingdom and hosting a population which numbers exceed those of Australia (24 million of inhabitants) and Canada (36 million of inhabitants), the State of São Paulo is home to the Brazil's largest consumer market, thanks to the population's socioeconomic status and having a GDP per capita that is 50% bigger than the national average and, consequently, offering access to more sophisticated consumer goods. According to the Consumer Potential Index (IPC Marketing), the population of São Paulo concentrates US$ 300 billion in consumer potential in 2016, which represents more than 27% of the consumption potential of Brazilians.
Sao Paulo also has one of the best research and development structures in the whole of Latin America, what has enabled the State of São Paulo to attract many companies. The presence of renowned universities that ally quality higher education, internationally recognized research centers and laboratories with distinguished production in several knowledge areas are among the factors that justify this attraction. Among the initiatives aiming to stimulate innovation, science and technology in the State, the São Paulo Technological Park System (SPTec) is worthy of note. Managed by the Department of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation (SDECTI), it was set up to promote economic and technological development in several regions by attracting investment and the creation of new knowledge intensive companies.
The Reset 2021-2022 plan brings opportunities for investment in the State of Sao Paulo. It presents the benefits of doing business in Brazil, focusing on reducing inequalities through job generation whilst complying with international environmental norms. Event is free of charge, and registration will be subject to approval.
We look forward to seeing you there!
